Brief Description:
We’re working to boost the public awareness of the difficulties children with cancer and their families face, and to effect change on a government policy level.
The Need:
The fight against cancer is multi-dimensional. In addition to entertaining the children, making sure they and their families are comfortable, and supporting medical research in the field, we must raise awareness of the daily challenges families face, and work to effect change on the grand scale by lobbying our government leaders and policymakers.
The Program:
We are increasing public awareness of the challenges children with cancer and their families face on a daily basis by:
- Communicating with various media outlets to promote the issue and share personal stories
- Lobbying policymakers in our government to improve the conditions in Israeli hospital oncology wards, and to increase their support of families fighting childhood cancer
- Working with the Ministry of Health to expand the list of drugs they will cover for children’s treatment
- Cooperating with hospitals and bureaucratic institutions to improve the procedural conditions cancer patients and their families need to face
In addition, we conduct PR campaigns to raise funds for children in need of special medications and treatments in Israel and abroad which are not covered by the government health insurance.
